How to Prepare for your Spray Tan:
A Patch Test is required at least 24hrs before your Spray Tan
•24hrs Before – please exfoliate, moisturise and shave (if needed), giving pores time to close before the Spray Tan application.
•Protecting Natural Finger Nails / Toe Nails – ensure you have some clear polish on your finger nails and toe nails to protect them staining from the Spray Tan.
•On the Day – please do not apply anything to your skin, including moisturiser, deodorant, (No shower gel / shampoo directly before your tan), perfume, foundation etc as this will act as a barrier to the Spray Tan.
•Clothing – wear dark loose fitting clothing as the colour guide may rub off (it can stain some nylon and lycra), avoid socks, boots, trainers and tight fitting garments such as jeans.
•Pregnancy – do not have a Spray Tan if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy (Some women can react strangely to a tan during pregnancy, possibly leading to an uneven tan) or if you have any open cuts or wounds or broken skin conditions.
•Medication or Supplements – whether herbal or prescribed, these can have an influence on your hormone levels and skin reaction. (Also, if you have eaten anything you might be allergic to, this can also have an influence on the tan).
•Eyebrow / Eyelash Tints / Waxing – do not tint eyebrows or eyelashes within 12 hours of a Spray Tan treatment. Waxing should be carried out at least 48 hours before. Please note any waxing done after your Spray Tan will remove your tan!
•During the Tan – you can wear either a dark bikini, or dark/old bra and knickers / thong. Disposable knickers are available at the salon.
PLEASE NOTE: Spray Tan solution can vary on different people / skin types / tones.
If you wish to trial the tan prior to a special occasion or event, please ensure you have your patch test asap and arrange your trial for at least one week before hand.
I am happy to spray a test area on your body in advance (for a small charge), in order to avoid any disappointment nearer the time.
How to Prolong your Spray Tan:
We want you to be happy with your tan, for it to be long-lasting and stay looking beautiful. Below are some easy to follow steps to help you make this happen.
•Tan Development – your tan can take up to 8-10 hours to develop. Avoid touching your skin as the colour will transfer onto your hands. During this time the tan will absorb into your skin and start to develop (please note that it can take up to 24 hours for the tan to fully develop and see the full results)
•Do not sit on light leather or fabrics until after the tan has fully developed and you have taken a shower to wash the colour guide off. Be careful with leather seats in cars, couches etc (remember that leather is skin too and will tan in the same way as your own skin does), so use towels to protect all light coloured fabrics. Avoid washing your hands immediately after having your tan.
•Seat Belts! Remember the guide colour can also rub off onto your seat belt and then onto any light clothing!
•Bathing – please do not bath / shower until at least 8-10 hours after application of your tan and avoid any vigorous exercise / swimming during this time.
•Exercise – or sweating excessively could have an influence on the development of your tan.
•Prolonging your Tan – your tan can last between 4-10 days, depending on your skin type and care. Moisturise, with a non oily moisturiser daily and use a mild cleanser / soap on your skin. Pat dry rather than rub. Showers rather than baths also help.
•Fading Tan – as your tan starts to fade you should lightly exfoliate to keep it even and prevent any patches. You can do this after about 3-4 days.
•Please Note – any form of hair removal after your tan may remove it or leave it patchy.
PLEASE NOTE: Dove products can strip the colour off your tan!
Remember – use oil free products and… moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!!
